Mighty River Power is New Zealand’s only large, renewable dominated energy company with both hydro and geothermal generation.
Our generation assets include nine hydro stations on the Waikato River (1040MW) with 39 discrete operating units, four geothermal stations (386MW, together with our partners) with 15 discrete operating units and a flexible four-unit gas-fired generation plant (175MW).
In addition, the Company has optional contracted generation to provide wholesale market opportunities and to help cover portfolio risks, such as weather or price volatility in the wholesale electricity market.
All physical generation assets are located close to the major demand centres in the upper North Island and the Company’s primary customer base.
