Mercury Energy Named Retailer Of The Year

Mercury Energy, one of three retail brands owned by Mighty River Power, was named Energy Retailer of the Year at the Deloitte Energy Excellence Awards last night.

After being named a finalist at last year’s awards, Mercury Energy took out the prize this year for its strong overall performance, the successful improvements made to its business over the past year and innovation in product offerings to customers.

Mercury Energy General Manager, James Munro, said, “We’re very proud to be recognised for another strong year. We’ve worked hard to continue the transformation of our business from traditional utility provider, to dynamic, progressive retailer. This award is testament to the hard work of our employees and the continually high level of service we provide to our customers.”

Mighty River Power was also a finalist in three other categories at the awards:

• Overall Energy Company of the Year (Previous winner in 2010)
• Executive of the Year: Helen Amituana’i, Community Relations Manager – Mercury Energy
• Young Executive of the Year: Bryan Dobson, General Manager - BOSCO Connect
